When a hyperscale AI datacenter operator needed a power solution that could match the sheer scale of their East Coast facility, and couldn’t afford to depend on the grid to deliver it, they turned to E-Finity to design and build it from the ground up.
The result is a 407 MW combined heat and power plant built around 36 medium-speed reciprocating engines at 11.3 MW each, one of the largest onsite generation projects of its kind in North America. The system is fully islanded, operating 100% independently from the utility grid, with 99.999% availability designed in from day one. Beyond power, the CHP system produces over 30,000 absorption cooling tons, putting the thermal energy from those engines to work on the facility’s enormous cooling load rather than venting it to the atmosphere.
E-Finity is delivering the project as full EPC contractor and will continue as the facility’s O&M provider once operational. Total plant efficiency exceeds 70%, and the system is projected to cut the client’s energy costs by 50% compared to utility-sourced power. Full installation is on track within 24 months of contract award.
