Created and owned by America’s electric cooperative network, National Rural Utilities CFC, a nonprofit finance cooperative with nearly $27 billion in asset provides unparalleled industry expertise, flexibility, and responsiveness to serve the needs of almost 1,000 member-owners across 49 states. The company’s facility in Dulles, VA decided in 2010 to install two C65 ICHP microturbines. The system provides power and hot water to heat the facility and to run a 50-ton York Absorption Chiller that provides chilled water to the data center. In the event of a grid failure, the system provides critical power to the data center. The efficient and low emission turbines helped the building achieve LEED Gold status while making the facility more resilient and cost-effective.
