Dominion Transmission is primarily a provider of gas transportation and storage services, operating one of the largest underground natural gas storage systems in the United States, with links to other major pipelines and to markets in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. In 2001, the Dominion Ardell Compression station in Benezette, PA installed Capstone a C600 microturbine for low emission power generation. Pleased with the results, the company decided to upgrade to a C800 power package in August 2012 as part of a plant expansion. The package has a gross electrical capacity of 800 kW and is remotely monitored through E-Finity’s control system. The site depends on the microturbine power to move more than 2 BCF/day of natural gas to eastern sites. Capstone microturbines continue to provide a solution to Dominion’s reliability, economic and environmental needs.
