Landfill Capabilities

Capstone MicroTurbines cleanly burn waste fuels such as methane and other gases from landfills, sewage treatment plants, livestock farms, and food waste processing facilities to produce renewable power and heat. This replaces traditional methods of flaring these gases, or even worse, letting them vent into the air, a practice that is wasteful, polluting, and contributes to global climate change.

Capstone MicroTurbines are capable of running on low methane content down to 30%. The flexibility of the Capstone microturbine to follow rapid variation in methane content is very useful for landfill applications.
